DOULBETREE BY HILTON
SAN PEDRO – PORT OF LOS ANGELES
LOS ANGELES, CA, March 16, 2013 – LA Sky Harbor, LLC (‘SKY HARBOR”)announced today that it has purchased the 226-room DoubleTree by Hilton San Pedro – Port of Los Angeles. The DoubleTree by Hilton San Pedro – Port of LA represents the first hotel acquisition for SKY HARBOR. AVIC International USA (“AVIC”), the major shareholder of SKY HARBOR, is excited to enter the hospitality industry and take on its first hotel project in the U.S.A.
Mr. Xu Ming (Sherman) Zhang, President of AVIC commented, “With a comprehensive business plan, we anticipate a seamless transition and a quick addition of value to the bottom line. We see great growth potential and upside investment opportunities in the U.S. commercial real estate sector, particularly in the hotel field.” Zhang added, “AVIC International Holdings in China and Hong Kong is a diversified conglomerate. Besides aviation, our business covers new energy, real estate, hotels, high-end retail, international trade, logistics, electronics and more. This hotel fits perfectly into our global business strategy and extends our China hotel portfolio.”
The hotel will now be managed by RIM Hospitality, which also manages the DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles-Downtown. Mr. Russ Cox, Chief Operating Officer from RIM Hospitality, Hotel Management Company, remarked, “We have worked with the new ownership alongside existing employees of the hotel and look forward to a long-term relationship to build a strong future together.” Cox continued, “We have been in the business more than 30 years and have managed more than 90 hotels; this DoubleTree by Hilton represents one of best potential growths assets in part because it is very unique water-front property.”
Abdellah Choukri has been appointed General Manager for the hotel. Choukri was most recently general manager at Hilton Garden Inn Lake Oswego Oregon but also brings experience from the DoubleTree Guest Suites in Omaha Nebraska and DoubleTree Hotel Seattle Airport.

Frank Yuan, CEO of ASAP, the Asset Manager, affirmed, “DoubleTree in LA Marina is located in San Pedro, a city renowned for being the busiest port in the U.S., The Port complex offers guests its major Cruise Terminal as well as the USS Iowa Battleship.
